Neighborly Donates 32,739 Pounds of Food for Community Food Drive

WACO, Texas – (Dec. 4, 2009) – Neighborly, formerly Dwyer Group, team gathered donations for the annual Food for Families food drive benefiting Waco-based Caritas agency and other area food banks to feed needy families of Central Texas. The company set a new internal record donating 32,739 pounds of food, 5,022 pounds more than last year.

“With unemployment on the rise, the need for food donations have never been greater. And our associates have once again answered the call and let their actions speak for themselves at this important time of the year,” said Debbie Wright-Hood, chief administrative officer for Neighborly. “Giving back to our community has always played an important role for The Neighborly, and we never want to see someone go hungry.”

Neighborly donates money to area food banks, including Caritas, a locally owned and operated non-profit agency, to purchase food for the needy. Approximately $0.40 purchases one pound of food and Caritas is able to purchase exactly what they need as they need it. The Neighborly matches associates’ contributions and, year after year, the associates come through for the community.

Neighborly has participated in the Food for Families drive for ten years, consistently beating each year’s record.
