The Book Inspired by Neighborly®
The book Live R.I.C.H. is a tribute to Neighborly, formerly Dwyer Group—the holding company of 21 franchised brands, each selling and supporting a different franchise—and our Code of Values, which centers around the themes of Respect, Integrity, Customer focus and Having Fun In The Process! The book credits those values as providing a roadmap to success for the company and the global network of franchise locations that are part of Neighborly family.
The author, Dina Dwyer-Owens, found herself in charge of Neighborly a few years after her father's unexpected death in 1994. She details the importance of the Code of Values in keeping the business grounded as it grew from $27 million to more than $127 million in revenues in 2004. Her story includes real-life accounts from franchisees, associates, business acquaintances, family members, and friends that show how the Code of Values has impacted people's lives and businesses at the grassroots level throughout the nation and the world.
Values, Inc., Dina's latest book was recently named to the Top Ten Business Books From 2015 in Forbes. Values, Inc was released in March 2015, and demonstrates to business leaders how a code of values creates a roadmap of success.
Dina Dwyer-Owens, Board Member and Brand Advocate
As former CEO, and now Board Member and Brand Advocate, Dina is the servant leader of Live Rich within Neighborly. Her message and mission in business is the same today as it was 30 years ago.
“Values and profits are not mutually exclusive. And that’s a message I strive to deliver every chance I get. We are not a perfect company. I believe that it is far better to occasionally fall short of high standards than to constantly meet low ones. And our Code of Values does just that: it keeps us accountable to high standards. We may not always reach the target, but we work our hardest to do our best every single day,”
IFA Chair, Philanthropist & Published Author
Dina is a certified franchise executive with more than 30 years of industry experience, having grown up in Neighborly. America also knows her for participating in CBS’s Emmy-winning hit reality show “Undercover Boss” and the first-ever special episode “Undercover Boss: Epic Bosses.” A winner of the 2012 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Southwest Area North, Dina leads by example and credits a growing team for the franchise family she presides over today.
In 2010, Dina served as the chair of the International Franchise Association (IFA) in Washington D.C., the world’s largest advocacy group for franchising as a business format. She also spearheaded the reintroduction of the IFA’s VetFran program in 2001, which now includes some 645 franchisors that offer franchising financial incentives to veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. More than 5,600 military veterans now own a franchise through the VetFran program, and Neighborly has awarded more than $2.3 million in financial discounts to VetFran franchisees across its own service brands. In 2002, the IFA awarded Dina the Bonny LeVine Award, the IFA’s highest award for women who mentor other women and advance the careers of women in franchising.
Dina is married to Mike Owens and they have two wonderful children. You can follow Dina on her blog or purchase her books Live R.I.C.H and Values Inc, on dinadwyerowens.com/
